South Gloucestershire Unitary Authority (UA)

The Boundary Committee for England began a further electoral review of South Gloucestershire Unitary Authority on 3 August 2004. It completed this review on 16 May 2006.

During the six week consultation period following the publication of the Boundary Committee for Englands final recommendations for South Gloucestershire, the Electoral Commission received the following representations:

On 26 October 2006 the Electoral Commission decided to accept the recommendations of the Boundary Committee for England with the following modifications:

  • the boundary between the new Bradley Stoke Central and Stoke Lodge, and Bradley Stoke South district wards (and associated new Manor Farm and Lakeside parish wards in Bradley Stoke) will adhere to ground detail at Bradley Stoke Community School and Hortham Brook;
  • the boundary between the new Central and North East parish wards in Thornbury will include Nos. 2 and 4 Gloucester Road in North East parish ward.

The electoral change Order to implement the Commission's decision was made on 25 January 2007. Web and print versions are available on the website of the Office of Public Sector Information. The Order describes the new district and parish wards by reference to a map comprising Sheet 1, Sheet 2, Sheet 3, Sheet 4, Sheet 5, Sheet 6, Sheet 7, Sheet 8, Sheet 9, Sheet 10 and Sheet 11.
